The Outcome of the UEFA Europa League 2019/20 Draw
The long-awaited UEFA Europa league draw has finally been done. The competition picks a large number of teams from the whole of Europe. Some of the teams, therefore, have to fight it out from the playoffs so as to reduce the number of teams in the competition. The first Europa League draw is done to determine the teams that will face off in the group stages. The second draw is done to determine the teams that will battle it out in the round of 32. Here is how the teams have been set to appear in the Europa League group stage.
Groups
The draw has been done in 12 groups of 4 teams in each group. The 12 groups are:
Group A: Sevilla, Apoel, Qarabag and Dudelange.
Group B: Lugano is grouped against Dynamo Kyiv, Malmo, and Kobenhavn.
Group C: Favorites Basel come against Getafe, Krasnodar, and Trabzonspor.
Group D: Sporting CP will try their luck against, LASK, PSV, and Rosenborg.
Group E: Lazio and Celtic are favorites to pip Rennes and CFR Cluj.
Group F: Returning finalist Arsenal face Victoria SC, Frankfurt, and Standard Liege.
Group G: A difficult to call group with Young Boys, FC Porto, Feyenoord and Rangers.
Group H: Russian side CSKA Moskva play Espanyol, Ludogorets, and Ferencvaros.
Group I: St-Étienne, Gent, and Olexandriya all line up against Wolfsburg.
Group J: Wolfsberg, Monchengladbach, Istanbul Basaksehir and Roma.
Group K: Besiktas, Braga, Slovan Bratislava, and Wolverhampton.
Group L: Manchester-United, Astana, Partizan and AZ Alkmaar.
This group stage draw makes the competition very interesting. Only group stage winners and the runners up qualify for the round-of-16 draw. The round-of-16 draw also involves all the third-placed teams from the UEFA Champions League group stages.
Both of these draws are done using some strict rules. These rules are meant to help maintain fairness in picking the teams that will face each other. These games are to begin on the 19th of September, 2019.
